Meet Penrose Court’s Newest Residents
As part of our Easter celebrations, we recently welcomed some new residents to our home. Having arrived as eggs, the residents and staff looked after them in an incubator, and eventually, we had the pleasure of seeing them hatch into tiny newborn chicks.
Having the chicks come to our home was a great way to welcome Spring and celebrate the season of new life. Looking after the chicks from eggs to hatching brought real joy to the residents, as they were able to hold them and watch them grow. Giving the residents a sense of responsibility and ownership can really benefit their overall wellbeing, and is something that has proven to have a real positive impact on the residents in the past.
We also know that pet and animal therapy can have great advantages for residents, as it can boost mood, reduce stress and also be reminiscent of happy times in their lives. This was clearly the case for our residents, as they sat around sharing conversation and laughter, whilst joyfully petting the chicks.
At Penrose Court, we go to great lengths to provide residents with opportunities to meet new people, pursue their interests and continue their hobbies. We listen closely to their suggestions and likes and incorporate this into our varied activities programme, which we design to engage and stimulate our residents, keeping both their minds and body active. The needs of our residents always come first and we do all that we can to ensure they are happy and living their lives the way they want.
