What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care, also known as end-of-life care, is a type of care given to individuals who have a terminal illness or who are in the final stages of their lives, which could be from a gradual decline in health or complex health conditions.

The purpose of palliative care is to offer comfort and support and alleviate the pain and any other symptoms experienced by the individual. The care provided ensures that the dignity of the person is preserved and their wishes are respected.

Palliative care also extends support to the loved ones of those receiving care, allowing them to spend time together and providing them with the necessary help and support to cope during an emotional and difficult time.
