To get in the Christmas spirit, Penrose Court Care Home Choir invited down students from local school John Henry Newman School, Stevenage, to join in an afternoon of singing and Christmas fun!

We've been working closely with Phil to create a Choir for our residents at Penrose Court and have a weekly practice every Wednesday morning. With the last few week's sessions being spent practising Christmas carols.

On Wednesday 6th December, we were joined by pupils from John Henry Newman school, who were special members of our choir for the day! Singing familiar festive favourites from both our residents and the students.

It was a wonderful event which brought together two generations, for an afternoon of festive fun! This was great for some of our residents to reminisce about previous memories of singing Christmas songs. Whilst also providing an opportunity for the students to interact with older people.

At Penrose Court, we identify the importance of music when caring for older residents. Music not only reduces stress but encourages residents to reminisce and communicate in social environments. This is key for residents who have dementia as it will create positive memories and instil a sense of identity.

Our activities team are always looking for new ways to get residents involved, keeping them entertained and active. Organising these activities ensures a happy and healthy environment here at Penrose Court Care Home. If you would like to find out more about how we can meet your care requirements and support your loved ones with a varied activities programme, then we welcome you to book a tour or get in contact with our friendly team.

The team at Penrose Court wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
