What our Residents Have Been up to this Month
At Penrose Court Care Home in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, our staff and residents have had a wonderfully busy month, from celebrating International Women's Day and St Patrick's Day, to venturing out of the home and visiting the local garden centre.
International Women's Day
At our care home in Biggleswade, we have many wonderful women among our residents and staff, so we thought it was only right to gather together and celebrate them this International Women's Day.
The women had a fantastic time together, sharing stories and laughter, and celebrating one other.
Garden Centre Visit
The sun made an appearance so we decided to take our residents out for a trip to our local Frosts Garden Centre in Willington.
It was a joyful Spring afternoon and our residents thoroughly enjoyed admiring the plants, browsing the homeware, and enjoying a well-earned cup of tea and cake in the café. It's safe to say that we are all very much looking forward to the warmer weather and getting out in our private garden.
World Book Day
For World Book Day, we celebrated like many others across the UK, by encouraging staff to dress up as their favourite book characters.
Our resident's faces lit up seeing all the different costumes and they voted for the best dressed which was awarded to our receptionist, Deanna, who dressed as Robin Hood.
St Patrick's Day
Some of our residents gathered at our in-house bar "Threshers" to celebrate St Patrick's Day with their favourite tipple and some games.
Residents shared lots of fun and laughter with their leprechaun masks and their pin the hat on the leprechaun game. We love celebrating all occasions here at Penrose Court, big or small, as it gives residents something to look forward to and provides them with fun and stimulating social opportunities.
Craft Sessions
We held one of our regular arts & crafts sessions one afternoon, and some of our residents spent the time decorating wooden craft shapes.
It was so lovely to see their artistic flare and they thoroughly enjoyed seeing the creations they had made. Our arts & crafts sessions are ever so popular as they improve focus and hand eye-coordination, allow residents to express themselves, and provides them with a sense of achievement.
A Visit from Safari Stu
Safari Stu visited the home once again and our residents put aside their fears and worries whilst they held these wonderful animals.
The residents were so proud of themselves and they found it fascinating to hear all about the different animals. There were definitely smiles all round!
