Residential Care Home in Biggleswade

Penrose Court is a private, luxury Residential Care Home situated in the market town of Biggleswade. Our home also offers Nursing Care, Dementia Care, and Respite Care for up to 65 residents who require specialist or elderly care. We are proud of the high standard of care we offer our residents in a homely atmosphere which also has a range of outstanding facilities that we encourage all residents to make use of.

What is a Residential Care Home?

A residential care home provides older people and those who have difficulty living independently with accommodation, around-the-clock care, and access to a range of in-house facilities. This environment also offers “group living,” making it a great alternative for people who prefer not to live alone or feel more comfortable in the company of others.

In a residential care facility, care staff is on hand day and night to provide care and support of all kinds to residents, including personal care, medication management, mobility, and communication. Some additional care services including nursing, dementia, and respite care may also be offered by some residential care facilities.

People in residential care are able to continue living their lives while being relieved of the demands of daily life. All meals are provided, along with social activities and day trips, and additional medical services, such as physiotherapy visits and GP visits can be arranged with the assistance of staff

Supporting our Residents at Penrose Court

At Penrose Court Care Home, we value both quality of care and quality of life. We offer residents a friendly, comforting and supportive environment, where they can live their lives the way they want to, with as much or as little assistance as they would like from our teams.

We encourage all of our residents to make full use of the facilities we have on offer, such as our private landscaped gardens, hairdressers and beauty salon, and cinema room. We want our residents to feel like our home is truly their own, and with the help of our varied activities programme, residents are free to lead as active and social a lifestyle as they like.

We understand the difficulty that comes with choosing a care home and the importance in finding the best care for you or your loved one. Before moving into Penrose Court, we offer prospective residents and their loved ones the opportunity to have a consultation with our Home Manager, where guidance and advice is offered to ensure that we can meet their individual personal needs.

When a resident joins our family at Penrose Court, we provide them with a tailored care plan that meets their specific requirements. All care plans are regularly monitored and amended if necessary, so residents and their loved ones can rest assured that they are always receiving the most appropriate care for them. We are committed to providing the best possible care for our residents, and our home is rated by The Care Quality Commission (CQC), which frequently inspects us and other adult health and social care services across England to ensure we are providing care to a high standard.

Our luxury home offers a plethora of facilities for our residents to fill their days with, but our Activities Team goes to great lengths to organise day trips for our residents to get out and explore. One of the best parts of Biggleswade is the markets that it is famed for, which are held on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and other various times throughout the year. Whether it’s flowers, food, or household items, there are plenty of treasures to be found at the local markets. We are also ideally situated for residents to access a variety of amenities such as supermarkets, cafés, and train station as the local town is just a 7-minute drive away. Residents always have the option to stay within the home and participate in activities such as arts and crafts sessions or to take our chauffeur-driven car and run some personal errands. No matter what, we will always encourage an active and social lifestyle for our residents.

Biggleswade is situated in the wider county of Bedfordshire, a place that is steeped in history, culture, and nature. We believe it is important for our residents to get out for some light exercise and fresh air, and Franklin Recreational Ground is just excellent for picturesque walks by the River Ivel, as well as family days out for picnics and playparks. We always invite residents’ family members to events within the home and make sure it is known that they are welcome to come on excursions too. One for the history lovers is Jordans Mill and gardens, a food heritage site where people can go and take a historic tour of the mill, discover crops, and admire wildlife from the Riverside Café. There is even an opportunity for our residents and their loved ones to explore further afield, such as our fantastic capital city, London, which can be reached directly in around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Whatever your age or interest, there is something for everyone to discover in and around our residential care home in Biggleswade.
