Dining

Penrose Court is built on the philosophy that each individual should have a fulfilled life by enjoying a lifestyle that they deserve, enabled by our caring and supportive environment. That’s why we understand how important it is that our residents experience an enjoyable dining experience every single day.

As we get older, the food we put into our bodies has a considerably greater impact on our health, and we appreciate that having a good mealtime experience has a substantial impact on our overall health.

Maintaining a strong sense of independence and dignity is such an important thing to us at Penrose Court, and where it is that you enjoy your meals (whether that be in your room or in one of our dining areas) will always remain your choice and be with your best interests at heart, no matter what.

Dining at Penrose Court is Better Together

Mealtimes are very important to us at Penrose Court because they provide us with the perfect opportunity to gather with our residents, and help them really establish strong connections with their loved ones and their fellow residents. Sometimes, there really is nothing better than having a hearty lunch, and making wonderful memories. We provide plated meal alternatives, and if a resident requires special assistance, a member of our staff will happily sit with them and help them eat at their own pace.

We really aim to promote the social benefits of group eating at Penrose Court, and encourage all of our residents to eat together as much as possible. However, we also offer room service for those who prefer to eat in the tranquility of their own rooms, and are more than happy to assist our residents in any way we can. If our resident’s friends, family, or loved ones would like to join us for dinner, then they are more than welcome to do so. We are extremely fortunate at Penrose Court to have a number of areas where our residents can relax, eat and drink, whether that be in our very own in-house pub, or more casually in our cafe.

Making Dining with Dementia Simple

Focusing on our residents with dementia is critical, and making sure to pay extra close attention to their eating experiences can really make all the difference.

Improving our dementia residents’ eating experiences is all about the little things, like ensuring our meals are served in a peaceful, clutter-free atmosphere, and making sure that all of our resident’s frustrations and tensions that are linked with dementia are relieved. We also have access to specialised tableware that has been designed to assist our residents with fine motor skills, so they can continue eating and enjoying their meals independently.
