Dining

Penrose Court is built on the philosophy that each individual should have a fulfilled life by enjoying a lifestyle that they deserve, enabled by our caring and supportive environment. That’s why we understand how important it is that our residents experience an enjoyable dining experience every single day.

As we get older, the food we put into our bodies has a considerably greater impact on our health, and we appreciate that having a good mealtime experience has a substantial impact on our overall health.

Maintaining a strong sense of independence and dignity is such an important thing to us at Penrose Court, and where it is that you enjoy your meals (whether that be in your room or in one of our dining areas) will always remain your choice and be with your best interests at heart, no matter what.

Dining at Penrose Court is Better Together

At Penrose Court, we know that good food and a relaxed setting can make a real difference to everyday life. From fish and chips on Fridays to traditional Sunday roasts, residents enjoy a wide variety of freshly prepared meals, including seasonal menus and themed days such as Spanish, Chinese and cruise-inspired cuisine.

Meals can be enjoyed in our main dining rooms, the in-house café or pub, out in the garden during summer, or in the privacy of a resident’s own room. Our celebration room is ideal for birthdays and special occasions, with homemade cakes, decorations and time set aside to make residents feel valued. Families and friends are welcome to join us and can also bring in favourite dishes to share.

Fresh cakes, biscuits and hot drinks are also available each day, with hydration stations on most floors offering fruit, snacks and a choice of juice. We also host tea rounds, coffee mornings and regular afternoon teas. Residents can take part in our Baking Club too, supported by a skilled kitchen team with experience from both the UK and abroad.

Making Dining with Dementia Simple

For residents living with dementia, we’ve created calm and supportive dining spaces designed to reduce stress and make mealtimes easier. Brighter plates, colour-contrasted flooring and specialist tableware all help residents to eat more independently and with confidence.

We encourage everyone to choose what they’d like to eat and where they’d like to enjoy their meals. Staff are always nearby to assist when needed, and our chefs are trained to prepare dishes that suit a range of dietary and texture needs. Whether it’s a simple lunch or a bigger event with garden dining and entertainment, we aim to make every mealtime comfortable and enjoyable.
