Penrose Court Celebrates Oktoberfest in Style

Oktoberfest

There was plenty of cheer at Penrose Court Care Home in Biggleswade as we hosted our very first Oktoberfest celebration on Friday 3rd October. The event brought residents and staff together for a fun-filled afternoon inspired by Germany’s famous beer festival, complete with hearty food, traditional music, and plenty of laughter.

Oktoberfest began in Munich in 1810 to celebrate a royal wedding, and it’s since become one of the world’s most popular and cheerful traditions. We thought it was the perfect excuse to bring a taste of Bavaria to Penrose Court, and our residents absolutely loved it.

Our dining area was transformed with long, shared tables where everyone gathered to enjoy the festivities. Residents raised their beer tankards in true Oktoberfest style, clinking them together in time with the traditional tunes playing in the background. The sound of music, laughter, and friendly chatter filled the room, creating a lively atmosphere that everyone enjoyed.

No German celebration would be complete without great food, and our team delivered with a delicious spread of hot dogs, pretzels, and classic snacks, adding an authentic touch to the afternoon. The residents loved tucking in while listening to upbeat German music and singing along to familiar tunes.

The afternoon was full of smiles and connection, reminding us once again how much joy can come from sharing new experiences together. Events like this are a wonderful way to bring our residents together, encourage social interaction, and create lasting memories. It was a fantastic success and one we’ll certainly be repeating in the future.

We want to thank everyone who helped make our first Oktoberfest such a special event, from our hardworking team to our residents who joined in with such enthusiasm.
