We started our celebration for the queens platinum jubilee on Thursday evening 2nd June. Some of our residents were taken down to Biggleswade town square to see the Beacon light being switched on. Our residents attracted lots of attention especially from the sea cadets as some of our residents had been in the Navy.
The following day we started our celebration with a BBQ for our residents consisting of lots of delicious food which they thoroughly enjoyed. We were then joined by Ian the DJ from So Discos to provide music for our afternoon entertainment. Families then joined the party and set up their own tables and chairs for a picnic.
We were lucky with the weather and had plenty of sunshine to enable everyone to stay outside and enjoy the party. Dancing was enjoyed by residents, relatives and staff as well as some stalls that were set up.
We try to host as many outdoor events as possible in our garden during the summer months. It’s a great way of bringing residents, family, friends and staff together for an afternoon of socialising, games and good food.
