Exploring Nature and Treats at the Danish Camp!

Our residents at Penrose Court Care Home recently enjoyed a breath of fresh air and a change of scenery with a delightful day out to the Danish Camp in Bedfordshire. Nestled near the River Ouse, this local gem offers a peaceful riverside setting, complete with coffee, cake, and even a few animal encounters.

Due to its popularity among residents, the care team arranged two separate trips - one in the morning and another in the afternoon - so that more residents could take part and enjoy the experience at a comfortable pace. It was a special outing requested by the residents themselves, many of whom had fond memories of the Danish Camp or were eager to visit for the first time.

On arrival, residents were treated to a relaxing time by the river with hot drinks and homemade cakes served in the scenic café. The fresh countryside air and the chance to connect with nature brought smiles all around. One of the highlights of the trip was seeing the animals cared for on-site, including owls and birds, a real treat for animal lovers and a lovely talking point throughout the day.

Beyond the tea and treats, the trip offered residents a sense of freedom, connection to the wider community, and the simple joy of being outdoors. Days like this are a welcome break from the routine and support residents’ physical and emotional well-being, all while creating lasting memories.

The team at Penrose Court regularly arranges outings like these to ensure residents continue to enjoy new experiences and stay engaged with the world around them. The feedback from the Danish Camp visit has been overwhelmingly positive, and there’s already talk of a return trip.
