Seaside Fun at Penrose Court: Our Annual Beach Day

Residents, families and staff at Penrose Court Care Home in Biggleswade recently enjoyed one of the highlights of our summer calendar, the much-anticipated Annual Beach Day. The sun was shining and our garden was transformed into a seaside escape, complete with delicious food, games and entertainment that captured the spirit of the seaside.

The celebration began with a classic favourite, freshly cooked fish and chips, served with all the trimmings. No summer event would be complete without something sweet, and our residents were thrilled when the ice cream van arrived. With cones and tubs to choose from, everyone enjoyed a refreshing treat while relaxing in the warm sunshine.

Entertainment was provided by the fantastic Brian Jay, who performed live music that had residents clapping, singing along and smiling from ear to ear. His performance created a joyful atmosphere that lasted throughout the afternoon.

Our garden became a mini fairground, with traditional activities such as hook a duck proving especially popular. Residents loved taking part, and the laughter could be heard across the home. The fun continued with visits from family members, who joined in the games, enjoyed the entertainment and shared happy moments together with loved ones.

Although we were not by the sea, our Annual Beach Day brought all the best parts of a summer outing right to our garden. From the smell of fish and chips to the sound of music and the sight of residents competing in games, the day was filled with nostalgia and joy.

Events like these are an important part of life at Penrose Court. They not only provide entertainment but also encourage social connection, create opportunities for reminiscence and offer simple, shared pleasures that brighten everyday life.
