A Busy Summer So Far
So far this summer at Penrose Court Care Home in Bedfordshire, staff and residents have been busy making memories together, participating in lots of activities, and spending time outside in the sunny weather.
Glad to Care Week
We celebrated Glad to Care Awareness Week last month which is an annual campaign that supports and recognises those in the care industry for their hard work and dedication to those they care for.
Residents got involved by making lovely cards of gratitude and appreciation for our staff. We then asked the team to dress up as superheroes, as after all, they are superheroes to us, and we also treated them with a selection of pizzas and other treats throughout the week to let them know just how much they are valued by everyone here at Penrose Court Care Home.
A Trip to the Seaside
We recently took residents for a wonderful day trip to Clacton seaside. The weather was shining and we took the opportunity to travel down to the beach, where residents enjoyed breathing in some fresh sea air, followed by a delicious fish and chip dinner.
Pilates
At Penrose Court, we take great pride in caring for our resident's overall wellbeing, including both their physical and mental health.
We have been running Pilates sessions with Adele for quite a while now and residents continue to enjoy and reap the benefits of them, such as learning new stretches and movements, feeling relaxed, and spending time with other like-minded individuals.
Bingo in the Sun
We play lots of fun stimulating and engaging games within our activities sessions here at our care home in Biggleswade, and a firm favourite amongst our residents is bingo.
Making the most of the summer sunshine and fresh air, we held our recent bingo session outside, accompanied by cold drinks and ice creams which went down a treat with our residents.
Cubs Visit
Intergenerational activities are extremely important to us and we often hold activities and events with schools and organisations in the local community. We had a wonderful evening recently when we were joined by the Cubs from Biggleswade.
They sang campfire songs to our residents, explained what they do when they go on camps and shared in plenty of laughter. The Cubs were working towards obtaining one of their badges and even presented the home with 3 badges of their own.
We are always striving to provide the very best in care and lifestyle for our residents, supporting their overall wellbeing and providing them with plenty of opportunities to socialise with others, continue with hobbies, and pursue new interests. We have had a wonderful summer together so far and we look forward to much more in the coming months.
