Care Home in Bedfordshire

Penrose Court Care Home is located in the market town of Biggleswade, situated in the county of Bedfordshire. Providing high standard elderly care services including Nursing Care, Dementia Care, Residential Care, and Respite Care for up to 65 individuals, Penrose Court also prides itself on offering residents high-quality accommodation and onsite facilities.

It is important to us that we care for each resident beyond their medical needs. We support our resident’s overall health and wellbeing, providing them with personal care as well as encouraging them to continue hobbies, pursue interests and meet new people.

Our Care Home in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire

At Penrose Court, we have worked hard to create an environment where residents feel at home. Through the onsite amenities we provide such as our private garden, hair salon and cinema room, to the meals we provide and activities we host, our residents are supported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with both medical care and personal care. To ensure we provide outstanding levels of service, we work closely with the Care Quality Commission. As important to us as it is that residents feel as though Penrose Court is their very own home, we also strongly believe that residents should be encouraged to explore their local community of Central Bedfordshire. We also want family members, friends and members of the local community to also get involved with life at Penrose Court. That’s why, we often host events at our care home such as coffee mornings, and go to great lengths to build relationships with other local organisations and charities.

Our care home is very fortunate to be located in the town of Biggleswade, a thriving town that offers a market every week, and a variety of shops, cafés and other nearby amenities for our residents to make full use of. Elsewhere in Biggleswade, there is a mixture of historic and cultural sites, making it an exciting place to explore. Just an 11-minute drive from Penrose Court Care Home is Jordans Mill, an attraction that offers visitors an insightful tour of the historical flour mill and well as landscaped gardens and a waterside café. The Shuttleworth Collection is also nearby which offers WW1 aircraft and other historic aircraft exhibits started by Richard Shuttleworth in addition to Swiss gardens and a restaurant.

Bedfordshire care homes have an abundance of local areas and attractions that residents and their loved ones are able to take advantage of. For those who enjoy the great outdoors, there are plenty of options for family days out, exercise, or just for getting some fresh air. Woburn Safari Park is a great attraction for all the family, with its drive through safari, opportunities to get up close and personal with different wildlife, and areas to enjoy a spot of lunch or a leisurely stroll. Also great for walking round and admiring nature is the Stockwood Discovery Centre, which offers beautiful gardens as well as interesting galleries, exhibitions and an extensive carriage display.

This type of care is also great for older people who would benefit from the companionship and activities that care homes and nursing homes offer.

Those receiving residential care may need minimal assistance but can rest assured knowing that our dedicated staff team is available whenever they need them and nothing is too much trouble for our teams. Our residential home in Biggleswade strives to provide a luxury yet homely environment where their individual needs can be fully met, whilst independence, dignity and respect is maintained.

We go to great lengths to ensure our dementia care residents are entirely comfortable and supported at our home. Through a range of facilities, activities, and therapies, we can help those living with dementia to continue living their lives whilst being encouraged to pursue new interests and meet new people.

Our extensive experience in working with people with memory loss has helped us create an approach to dementia care that is personalised and specific to each resident with dementia. We work with individuals and their friends and family to develop a care plan that helps keep routine and that has their best interests at the heart.

Nursing Care

Penrose Court Care Home is also a nursing home, with a team of registered nurses and care professionals who are able to care for a variety of nursing care needs. We provide nursing care to those who have physical disabilities, higher dependency needs, and long-term health conditions.

Prior to moving into our care home, prospective residents will have the opportunity to visit our care home, meet with our home manager and care team to get their advice, and to discuss their individual needs with them. We understand that moving into a care home can be a difficult decision to make, which is why all the staff at Penrose Court Care Home are happy to do all they can to make you feel at ease and help you every step of the way.

Respite Care

Respite care, sometimes known as convalescence is provided to those who require support following an illness or for those who are in recovery after an operation. The purpose of respite is to help people get back on their feet, but it can also be helpful to caregivers who may require some time to themselves.

Residents who need respite may stay at a care home or nursing home so that they can receive appropriate care during their recovery period. It is our aim to help our respite residents recuperate by providing them with our high-quality around-the-clock care and support, and access to our range of amenities. Respite stays can also be great for experiencing what care homes offer and for socialising with other like-minded individuals. A minimum stay of 3 weeks applies to our respite care package.
